RACES

RACES_logoThe Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) was established under the Federal Communications Commission Rules and Regulations, as part of the amateur radio service.

The mission of RACES is to establish and maintain the leadership and organizational infrastructure necessary to provide amateur radio communications in support of emergency management entities throughout the United States and its territories.

RACES can only be activated by order of the President of the United States per the FEMA and Homeland Security Plans.

In Mason County, RACES members are combined with the ARES unit. The MC-DEM Communication Unit (CommU) is within the MC-ARES/RACES organization will act as RACES members if activated and work under the supervision of the MC-DEM Manager.
